Croatian Language Technologies Society (CLTS)
General goal of CLTS is to bring together interested parties who work in the field of language technologies and their resources izvorima from research, developmental, educational, user-related or other perspective or are interested in language technologies from these other perspectives. CLTS's activities are aimed at the advancement of language technologies, primarily for the Croatian language; facilitating the exchange of opinions and experiences between members and coordinating their efforts; protection and promotion of the CLTS members' professional interests and supporting their professional, social and economic status.
CLTS's principal domains of work and activities are as follows:
- care for the development of language technologies in theory and practice, with particular emphasis on the Croatian language,
- care for the flow and dissemination of information on language technologies and for observing their needs, achievements and capacities,
- care for introducing the educational programs/courses related to language technologies on undergraduate and graduate levels,
- care for the interdisciplinary relations and cooperation with similar international organizations and organizations with similar interests in the Republic of Croatia,
- care for informing the public regarding the status, development and prospects of language technologies, with particular emphasis on the Croatian language,
- promoting and publishing scientific and professional publications, as well as organizing scientific conferences in the field of language technologies,
- participating in preparation and drawing up legal and decree-level regulations and standards related to the development and use of language technologies,
- promoting the use of language technologies.
In view of the significance of language in the modern world, not only as the means of communication, but also as the instrument of political, economic and other capacities of a national community and its identity, its recognizability and cultural autonomy in the context of ever more intense international integration, CLTS shall be involved in the formulation of initiatives which are to support the Croatian language from this perspective as well. Its conduct shall be in line with the public interest and it shall cooperate with others in resolving the issues of national importance, which pertain to the interests of its members.
